Possible opportunity for RoR marketing? ๐Ÿ˜„

data for 1.2 million people exposed on a wide-open internet-connected elasticsearch box:

oops. if there was only a simple free option to secure elasticsearch!

We have counted dozens of these leaks, the main issue seems to be that people want to be up and running quick, so they buy some โ€œElasticsearch as a serviceโ€ which does not only has zero security beyond setting up firewalls, but donโ€™t even allow to install any plugins.

So there is no easy option for the lazy, or unexperienced user (generally front end contractor developers with crazy tight deadlines).

We are preparing something for this use case. There will be a new ROR product to address specifically this.
