ROR with Kibana Fleet

Just a quick clarification, since Fleet requires xpack security to be enabled (on version 9.2.0). Meaning, if I use ROR patched into Elasticsearch and Kibana, I can’t use Fleet functionality?

Hello @sd-eric the Fleet compatibility is work in progress, we found a good track.

I can already say you will need xpack enabled, and ROR is already capable of coexisting with xpack. We had to implement this in order to support ECK integration.

The ROR Documentation needs a refresh about this ( For Elasticsearch | ReadonlyREST ) and I already checked with @coutoPL it’s coming. But the idea is that even today you can enable xpack security and use the native SSL from Elastic if you want (for example).

This does not mean all the free features in xpack security will work automatically. In fact here we are at work to ensure Fleet can freely talk to the xpack API in Elasticsearch.

Hi @sscarduzio

Thanks for the update. Good to know this. Looking forward for the Fleet compatibility update.

You are not alone! I’m looking forward to this too, among a sea of “meh” features in Kibana, Fleet is really a handy one. What a pity not to benefit from it when using ROR!

hey, @sd-eric
You may want to take a look?

Nice!

Thanks for the notification. Will check it out for sure.
