we are using ROR free edition and we plan to upgrade to the pro/enterprise.
my questions :
what is the procedure for the upgrade process?
can we do it as rolling or a full restart is needed ?

The Enterprise and PRO plugins are kibana plugins, and they are synergic with the ES plugin. So you should be able to install the kibana plugin and have it talking to the ES plugin without restarting the ES cluster.
After that, you could change the ROR settings of the ES plugin on the fly without restarting the ES cluster, thanks to the PRO/Enterprise kibana plugin.
