Kibana Fleet support

Hi,

In topic Sneak peak: Observability > APM compatibility - #4 by coutoPL it’s mentioned that Fleet will be supported in version 1.63.0, but currently i don’t see any reference to Fleet in the latest version available, when do you expect that Fleet will be available or am i missing something?

Hi @martijn.kessels

Yes, we planned to release Fleet support in ROR 1.63.0, but we found some difficulties to make it happen.
But we are still working on integrating it, and for sure we will do it in the near future.

@coutoPL let’s reconvene on this internally, I’d like @martijn.kessels to get a more specific answer.

OK @martijn.kessels here is where we are with this.

  1. The approach we followed so far was a dead end unfortunately
  2. We do have other 2 avenues to explore

By the end of the week we will probe them and begin with the selected one. By then we will know more and update this thread.

Thanks for your patience!

:rocket: Update on Kibana Fleet support

Hey everyone — great news! We have Fleet support up and running in a proof-of-concept state.

If you want to try it out right now, you can experiment with it in our ROR Sandbox:

:link: PoC PR: [RORDEV-1368] PoC: Fleet support (8.19.7 example) by coutoPL · Pull Request #61 · beshu-tech/ror-sandbox · GitHub

The instructions for running it locally are included in the PR description.

At this stage, the feature is functional, but we still need to clean up the implementation, add tests, and polish the integration. If everything goes well, you can expect it to ship as part of ReadonlyREST 1.68.0 — later this year.

Feedback is very welcome — feel free to play with it and let us know what you think!
